Opportunities help you track potential revenue right in Calendly. When someone books time with you, that meeting is the start of a business relationship. An opportunity tracks what happens next.

Instead of jumping between email, spreadsheets, and other tools, you can see all your potential deals in one place. You can watch them move through your sales process and know exactly how much revenue you have in the pipeline.

Who should use opportunities

Opportunities work best for consultants, coaches, and service providers who meet with clients one-on-one through Calendly. If you send proposals, negotiate contracts, or follow up with clients before they become paying customers, opportunities help you stay organized.

What is an opportunity

An opportunity is a potential deal, project, or a customer that  you are working to close. It tracks a single pursuit from initial meeting through completion.

Each opportunity moves through stages:

  • New lead
  • Intro call scheduled
  • Proposal sent
  • Completed
  • Check in later

You move opportunities between stages as your relationship with the client progresses. This helps you see what work is in play right now.

Key information in an opportunity

Every opportunity has:

  • Opportunity name - What this opportunity is about
  • Stage - Where it stands in your pipeline
  • Contact - The person you are working with
  • Value amount - How much revenue this could be worth (optional)
  • Close date - When you expect to finish (optional)
  • Source - Where the contact heard about you (optional)
  • Notes - Any details about the opportunity (optional)

Two ways to create opportunities

Manually: Create an opportunity for any lead, whether they booked a meeting with you or not.

Automatically: Set a rule so that every booking on a specific event type automatically becomes an opportunity. This way your pipeline fills itself.
